The TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP) is structured as a Delta Dental PPO/DPO program that enables enrollees to seek treatment from both Delta Dental Select and Delta Dental PPO/DPO network dentists. While enrollees in the TRDP may receive care from any licensed dentist in the service area, they are encouraged to seek treatment from a dentist who participates in the network serving the TRDP. Processing and payment policies applicable to dentists who treat TRDP patients are defined below.

TRDP Networks

Delta Dental PPO/DPO
Dentists who belong to the Delta Dental PPO/DPO network:

• Are responsible for submitting a claim on behalf of each eligible TRDP patient for all treatment that is rendered.
• Will have payment sent directly to their office.
• Will be reimbursed based on the local Delta Dental member company's established maximum allowable PPO/DPO reimbursement. (Dentists who belong to both the Delta Dental Select and Delta Dental PPO/DPO networks will be reimbursed per their prevailing PPO/DPO agreement and fees.)
• Cannot charge TRDP patients the difference between the Delta Dental PPO/DPO fee and the submitted fee.
• Agree to adhere to the processing policies for TRDP covered services based on national Delta Dental processing policies.

Delta Dental Select
Dentists who belong to the Delta Dental Select network:

• Are responsible for submitting a claim on behalf of each eligible TRDP patient for all treatment that is rendered.
• Will have payment sent directly to their office.
• Will be reimbursed based on a regional Delta Dental Select network dentist fee schedule. (Dentists who belong to both the Delta Dental Select and Delta Dental Premier^® networks will be reimbursed per their prevailing Delta Dental Select agreement and fees.)
• Cannot charge TRDP patients the difference between the Delta Dental Select fee and the submitted fee.
• Agree to adhere to the processing policies for TRDP covered services based on national Delta Dental processing policies

Non-participating Networks

Delta Dental Premier^®
Dentists who belong to the Delta Dental Premier^® network:

• Are responsible for submitting a claim on behalf of each eligible TRDP patient for all treatment that is rendered.
• Will have payment sent directly to their office.
• Will be reimbursed for TRDP services based on the maximum plan allowance (MPA) with their local Delta Dental member company.
• Cannot charge TRDP patients the difference between the Delta Dental Premier^® fee and the submitted fee.
• Agree to adhere to the processing policies for TRDP covered services based on national Delta Dental processing policies.

Non-Delta Dental
Dentists who do not belong to a Delta Dental network:

• Will be reimbursed for TRDP services based on a non-network fee schedule.
• Will not receive direct payment. TRDP benefits are not assignable to non-Delta Dental dentists; payment will be sent directly to the patient.
• Are allowed to collect payment in full, up to the submitted fee, from the patient at the time services are rendered.
